B'nai B'rith Honors Peter Karmanos Peter Karmanos Jr., chairman and chief executive officer and a co-founder of Compuware Corporation, will receive B'nai B'rith's 1997 Great Amer- ican Traditions Award Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Westin Hotel, Renais- sance Center, Detroit. In 1995, Pete Karmanos, in memory of his first wife, provided the largest single gift to fight cancer ever in the state of Michigan. The Met- ropolitan Detroit cancer community is now housed under the name Bar- bara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. Revenue from the dinner will help fund the award-winning youth serv- ing agencies of B'nai B'rith which service teen-agers in the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization and college students who participate in the Hillel Foundations on more than 450 campuses throughout the United States.
