"It's more convenient be- cause it's a week earlier (than Pittsburgh) and it is less cost to us," said Sharon Newman, who is in her 10th year head- ing the Ann Arbor squad. As- sisting Newman is Sue Waldman, a graduate student at the University of Michigan. Twenty-nine Ann Arbor teens will head to Wisconsin from Aug. 10-15. Ten of them are on the boys 13-14-year-old basketball team and seven on the girls volleyball team. The boys soccer team will combine with the Syracuse JCC team. "We only had three boys try out for the soccer team," Newman said. "Syra- cuse was also short so it was a good fit. They will play as the Syracuse/A-Squared soccer team." There is anew addition to this year's games, as nine teams nationwide — including Ann Arbor — will field two Is- raelis as part of the Partner- ship 2000 program.
