> 0 Jewish War Veterans celebrate their 56th annual convention by giving scholarships to 26 deserving students. JULIE EDGAR SENIOR WRITER /- whirlwind weekend of honors and speeches marked the 56th annual convention of Jewish War Veter- ans, Department of Michigan. National Commander Robert M. Zweiman, who was honored at a banquet that kicked off last weekend, toured the new Veterans Adminis- tration hospital in downtown Detroit and spoke at a special Shabbat ceremony last Friday in which 26 area students received scholarships — an annual tradition of JWV. The scholar- ships are awarded without regard to race or religion. Also speak- ing last Friday was National Auxiliary President Pearl Tyler. The convention also featured a dinner dance honoring State Commander h-v Marshall and State Auxiliary President Elaine Zeron, and a memorial service on Sunday for former JWV and Auxiliary members. 0 Top: National Commander Robert M.
