Standing out on the sidewalk.s
of downtown Detroit at mid-
night, after they won, I noticed
that every single person could
t stop smiling. People who had
never met before, and still didn't
know each othefs names, were
chatting as if they were best
friends. The air was warm, wet,
dense — with weather, or ex-
cithment?
I know it sounds corny, but
every time I heard a radio in-
terview with a Red Wing in the
d ays :following that huge night,
tears alniiiSt threatened to spill
gr the corners of my eyes. It
, indeed, a win for us all.
And like the first time I cel-
ebrated Shavuot, last week. ,I
took time out of a busy work
week to commemorate the giv-
ing of the Torah. at Mount
Sinai. You know, it's a coin-
ma.ndment to enjoy a Jewish
Iid.ay. We must have fun. So
topped what I was doing for
i ttle while, ate a huge meal
the middle of the day,
earned all night (well, at least
I tried to), just to make Judaism

jumped on our folding seats, as
if we had skated the
