serve her bat
mitzvah with the
Grosse Pointe
Jewish Council
at the Unitarian
Church of Grosse
Pointe on Saturday, June 21. Rab-
bi Nicolas Behrmann will conduct
the service.
Participating in the service will
be Leah's parents, Barbara and
Paul, her brother Joshua, grand-
parents Ida Karchin of Philadel-
phia, and Eleanor and Joseph
Feitler of Oak Park, Ill. Leah also
is the granddaughter of the late
Isadore Karchin.
Leah is a 4.0 student at
Brownell Middle School in Grosse
Pointe and attends the Grosse
Pointe Jewish Council Religious
School. She is an avid figure skater
and has competed on an individ-
ual basis on the regional level.
Leah also enjoys reading, swim-
ming, creative arts and music.

Meredith Cannes

mitzvah on Sat-
urday, June 21,
at Temple Kol
Ami. Meredith is
the daughter of
Jim and Deby
Gannes and the
sister of Margo and Alex Gannes.
She is the granddaughter of the
late Larry Gannes, Marion
Gannes and Frances Bondy. Par-
ticipating in the service will be her
grandfather F.B. Bondy.
Meredith is a student at Cran-
brook Kingswood Middle School.
She enjoys swimming, skiing and
playing the alto saxophone.
Meredith's mitzvah project was
volunteering at Wing Lake School
in Bloomfield Hills. She worked
with physically and mentally im-
paired children.
