THEIR PET ROCK has fi-
nally been found by Norman and
Bonnie LePage, whose Big Rock
Chop & Brew House is scheduled
to open in August on Eton Street
in Birmingham, site of their for-
mer Norman's Eton Street Sta-
tion restaurant.
Norm and Bonnie discovered
the huge rock they've been look-
ing for in Rochester ... 10 feet
long and 8 feet tall ... for the cor-
ner of Maple and Eton, to cer-
tainly let people know where
their new restaurant is located.
It weighs 40 tons and the cost
of transporting the huge white
and pink chunk was $20,000 ...
including $1,500 to reinforce the
truck it was craned onto.

LUNCH-BUCKET and hard-
hat preview tour of the Star
Southfield Entertainment Cen-
tre (Star Theatre) that opens to-
day, was filled with oohs and
aahs.
The 6,000-seat theater com-
plex, with 20 auditoriums of sta-
dium seating and oversized
rocking chair comfort, is the ab-
solute latest in film viewing with
no obstructions ... regardless of
how tall the guy or gal in front
maybe.
Screens are nearly double the
size of typical theater screens ...
The two largest auditoriums
each have 700 seats and even
larger screens, 65-feet wide.
We were given a sample of the
sound in one of the theaters and
can only express amazement at
the clarity that makes it the
most advanced digital cinema
sound system available today ...
Also infrared earphones are
available for the hearing-im-
paired.
CONTACT STEVE Rosman
at (248) 355-4212 if you have any
pictures for his photo exhibit of
Jewish Detroit in the '20s and
'30s ... this October at the Jew-
ish Community Center on Drake
and Maple.
Just about anything from
those eras ... Hastings, Oakland,
12th, etc ... stores, restaurants,
street scenes, anything ... Sure
wish I could find a true picture
of the Cream of Michigan for
Steve. ❑
