Nazi Gold

At 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, Channel 56-
PBS's "Frontline" will air Nazi Gold, a
documentary chronicling the Swiss role
in supporting Nazi Germany and the in-
ternal political events in Switzerland that
allowed its border police to turn fleeing
Jews away, and into the hands of the
Gestapo. Produced by Christopher Olgiati,
the film tells the story through the words
of former Swiss officials, World Jewish
Congress President Edgar Bronfinan, and
the victims, including survivor Elizabeth
Trilling-Grotch, pictured, who has joined
a $20 billion class-action suit for the mem-
ory of her parents killed in the camps: "All
that's left of them," says Grotch, "is
smoke."

ginia-born Wayne Newton is the
epitome of Las Vegas entertain-

Vergeen: A Survivor of the Armenian Genocide tells the true sto-
ry of Virginia Meghrouni and the teen-ager's survival of the Ot-
toman Turkish government's genocide against its. Christian
Armenian subjects during World War II. Mae Derdarian, a native-
Detroiter whose mother was a lifelong friend of Meghrouni, com-
pares the genocide to that of the Jews a generation. later. She signs
