Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Michelle Markzon

Michelle Mark-
zon of West
Bloomfield was
bat mitzvah Sat-
urday, May 31,
at the Jewish
Community
Center in West
Bloomfield. She
is a member of
Jewish Parents Institute.
Michelle is the daughter of
Debbie and Harvey Markzon
and sister to Joshua and Lauren
Markzon. She is the grandchild
of Rita and Harold Goldstone
and Pauline and Isadore Mark-
zon.
Michelle is a student at Ab-
bott Middle School. She enjoys
singing, acting and dancing. She
volunteered at the Jewish Com-
munity Center Child Develop-
ment Center and enjoyed it very
much. She will continue to vol-
unteer there this summer.
A celebration was held in her
honor at Nifty's Restaurant.





Chad Weiner

Chad Evan
Weiner will cel-
ebrate his bar
mitzvah on Fri-
day, June 13, at
Temple Emanu-
El. He is the son
of Judi Weiner
and Neil Wein-
er, brother of
Lindsay, Todd and Eli.
Chad's proud grandparents
are Marian and Bob Foster, and
Sam Weiner. He is also the
grandson of the late Ethel Wein-
er.
Chad is an honor student at
Norup Middle School. He played
basketball on Norup's seventh-
grade team and for the Berkley
Hoops. This summer, Chad will
go to Milwaukee to play basket-
ball in the Maccabi Games.
For his mitzvah project, Chad
volunteered at Menorah House
and Yad Ezra.

Dena Roth

Dena Michal
Roth will cele-
brate becoming
bat mitzvah on
Shabbat Naso,
Saturday, June
14, at Congre-
gation B'nai
Moshe. Dena is
the daughter of
Kay and Ira Harris and Terri
and Rob Roth.
She is an honor student at
Hillel Day School where she be-
came the first female member of
the school basketball team and

was student director of the sev-
enth-grade musical. She is also
a fourth-season camper at
Ramah of Canada.
Her sisters and brothers are
Elana Roth, Sam, Reuben and
Kendall Maxbauer, and Adam
and Molly Harris. Her proud
grandparents are Edith and
Nathan Roth, Pauline Ballauer,
Ceil Harris, and Dolores and
Leonard Farber.

Anne Dovitz

Anne Laura
Dovitz will be
called to the
Torah as a bat
mitzvah at Tem-
ple Israel on
Saturday, June
14. She is the
daughter of Su-
san and Dr.
Steven Dovitz, sister of Emily
and Melanie and granddaugh-
ter of Lorraine and Sol Dovitz
and Pauline and Julius Mark-
man. She is also the great-grand-
child of Rose and Herman
Schwartz.
Her mitzvah projects includ-
ed collecting food for Yad Ezra
and donations to JARC. Anne is
an honor student at Warner
Middle School and enjoys swim-
ming, art and drawing.

Steven Rives

Steven Nathan
Rives will be-
come a bar mitz-
vah at Havdalah
services on Sat-
urday, June 14,
at Temple Is-
rael. He is the
son of Ronna
and Dr. Aaron
Rives, brother of Erika and
grandchild of Stella Rives and the
late Leon Rives and the late Faye
and Nathan Gendelman.
Assisting senior citizens at a
nursing home was part of his
mitzvah project.
Steve attends Warner Middle
School, where he plays drums
in the band. His interests
are sports-related: hockey, base-
ball, tennis, rollerblading and
skiing.
