perience) programs. The service
will be a relaxed, participatory
combination of prayers and

new minyan area.
At 11:30 a.m. participants will
be invited to join the main ser-
vice in the sanctuary for con-

Other dates in the summer-
time family Shabbat series are
July 12, July 26, Aug. 2, and

ernor's Community Service
Awards program in Lansing.
The congregation was singled
out for its December 1996 Cost
Drive.
Working in partnership with
The Jewish News and the office
of Doug Ross, 150 volunteers la-
bored for three days to provide
over 15,000 coats, 1,000 pairs of
shoes, household goods, baby
equipment and 5,000 pounds of
flour to more than 45 agencies,
churches and shelters in the tri-
country area.
Accepting the award from
Governor and Mrs. John Engler
were Temple Coat Drive Chair
Lois Gerenraich and Rabbi

Gender Roles
Is Class Topic

Rabbi Elliot Pachter will teach
an adult study series entitled
"Let's Talk About Gender Roles
in the Synagogue," at Congre-
gation B'nai Moshe on four con-
secutive Wednesdays, 8-9 p.m.
beginning June 18.
The series will take an inten-
sive look at traditional Halachic
texts dealing with two distinct
issues: whether women may be
counted as part of a minyan and
whether women can lead the
congregation in prayer.
No knowledge of Hebrew is re-
quired.
Tuition is $20 for members of
B'nai Moshe and $30 for others.
For more information, call B'nai
Moshe, (248) 788-0600.
