RAF' -SEA-I SLAND SHORT SLEEVE
in Sandwich oreo 1790
sor at 445 Riverside Drive with
the intention of keeping our loss-
es in check.
Three hours later and $120
poorer, we left the smoke-filled
jingle janglepalace, defeated,
and headed for dinner at Wah
Court at 2037 Wyandotte West.
To be fair, it was late (about
11:30 p.m.) and we were the last
diners in, but the food was just
so-so. Not at all as innovative as
I remembered.
On previous jaunts to Wind-
sor, I had the pleasure of eating
at Calabrisella Ristorante, an
Italian bistro at 614 Erie Street
East, and at Brigantino, 1063
Erie Street East. Make reserva-
tions for the latter.
Other interesting attractions
in town are the Windsor Film
Theatre (2135 Wyandotte West),
a cozy cinema that brings in for-
eign films that often don't make
it to Detroit, and Himalaya, a
restaurant housed in an elegant
Victorian mansion at 841 Ouel-
lette Street that demands your
full gustatory attention and reser-
vations at least a week in ad-
vance. I've been told that the
Cook Shop/Pasta Shop at 683
Ouellette is very good, as is La
Contessa at 780 Erie Street, an-
other restaurant in Windsor's Ital-
ian neighborhood.
A few days after our visit, I
noted that I had made a bank
machine withdrawal in Windsor
in an odd amount. I called my
bank and happily learned that
the $14 I saved was due to a
great exchange rate. We could
have stayed in the casino even
longer after all. El
