dover tied for the Class B state
tennis championship last week-
end, both finishing the state tour-
nament with 25 points.
Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-
Kingswood finished third with
17. All three teams have a num-
ber of Jewish players.
Cranbrook-Kingswood No. 1
singles player Justin Baker lost
the championship match to Cale-
donia's Chris Snoap, 6-4, 4-0.
Baker had to withdraw after in-
juring his shoulder.
Country Day's Jonathan
Thomas lost the No. 2 champi-
onship 6-2, 6-1 to Patrick Eagan
of Spring Lake. At No. 3, Eric
Steinberg of Cranbrook lost to
Flint Powers' Luke Tomycz. At
No. 4, Country Day's Rajesh Dan-
damudi defeated Cranbrook's
Ben Higgins 6-3, 6-7 (7-5), 6-1.
In No. 1 doubles, Andover's
Jonathan Nyquist and Matt Wat-
son defeated Cranbrook's Mark
Tapper and Gustavo Almaraz 6
0, 6-7, 6-4.
At No. 2 doubles, Country
Day's Charles Boyd and Zachary
Walton defeated Andover's San-
jay and Vinay Toila 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
At No. 3 doubles, Country Day's
Frank Dery and Peter Shermeta
defeated Andover's Aaron Beit-
ner and Ronald Choi 6-1, 6-3.
In the Class A championships,
North Farmington High School
finished tied for 20th place with
four points.
Greenberg Tourney
Is A Sell-Out
The Hank Greenberg Memorial
Golf and Tennis Championship
has shifted its starting time on
Monday, June 9, because the
event has sold out.
The shotgun start for the golf
tournament has been moved 45
minutes to begin at noon. Open-
ings for the tennis tournament,
also at Tam O'Shanter Country
Club in West Bloomfield, are still
available.
The events will begin with a 9
a.m. pro-celebrity skins game fea-
turing for Detroit Piston Bill
Laimbeer, PGA senior star Lar-
ry Laoretti, former Chicago Bear
Gayle Sayers, PGA player Char-
lie Bowles, former Tiger Al Ka-
line and Channel 7 sportscaster
Don Shane.
The skins game is open to the
public free of charge.
The Greenberg Memorial ben-
efits the Greenberg Oncology
Fund at Sinai Hospital and is
sponsored by the Michigan Jew-
