Jennifer Weingarten Jennifer Rachel Wein- garten of Grosse Pointe Woods will observe her bat mitzvah with the Grosse Pointe Jewish Council at the Unitarian Church of Grosse Pointe on Saturday, May 31. Rabbi Nicholas Behrmann will lead the service. Participating in the service will be Jennifer's parents, Dr. Jeffrey and Janet Weingarten, and her brothers Michael and Matthew. Grandparents Ralph and Helen Benaroya of Park Forest, M., and Robert and Marlene Weingarten of Des Plaines, Ill., will attend. Jennifer is an honor student at Parcells Middle School in Grosse Pointe, and attends the Grosse Pointe Jewish Council Religious School. She plays piano and flute. She has strong interests in dance, vocals and theater. She has en- joyed summers at Tamarack and Interlochen. Eric Colton Eric Ian Colton was called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday evening, May 24, at Temple Shir Shalom. Participating in the Havdalah service were his par- ents, Michele and Michael, and his two younger brothers, Adam and Kyle. Proud great-grand- mother, Sylvia Cohen and Zayde Calvin Moss also participated. Eric also is the great-grandson of the late Albert Cohen and the late Dorothy and Philip Brezner as well as the grandson of the late Elaine Moss and the late June and Irving Colton. In honor of Eric's bar mitzvah, a party was held at the temple at the conclusion of services. Eric enjoyed working with the younger students at Sunday school and assisting at Yad Ezra as part of his mitzvah project. He is a student at Berkshire Middle School and enjoys all sports, but is especially active in baseball. Erin Danielle Harris of West Bloomfield became a bat mitz- vah on Friday, May 23, at Con- gregation Shaarey Zedek B'nai Israel Center, where she and her family lead the service. Erin Harris Erin is the daughter of Debi and Hartley Harris and sis- ter of Mychal. She is the grand- daughter of Rochelle and Ed- die Chinsky of Lake Worth, Fla., and Louis Harris of Northride, Calif., and the late Mildred Harris. Erin attends Hillel Day School where she is involved in Dor '1 Dor with the seniors at Hechtman residence. A party in her honor was held at Congregation Beth Achim; the centerpieces contained gifts and arts and crafts to be donat- ed to Alyn hospital in Israel as well as several children's facili- ties in this area. Lauren Wiseley Lauren Wise- ley will cele- brate her bat mitzvah on Sat- urday, May 31, at the Jewish Parents Insti- tute. Lauren is the daughter of Daniel and Hope Wisely, sister of Jonathan. Her proud grand- parents are Marvin and Joyce Weintraub of Pompano Beach, Fla. Lauren is a student at Novi Middle School, where she is a cheerleader, counseling office aide and on the track team. A party in her honor will be held Saturday evening at the Coun- try Epicure. Tony Sevy Tony Sevy of West Bloom- field was bar mitzvah at Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel Moses on Saturday, May 3. Rabbi Bergman and Cantor Lanxner led the services. Participating in the ceremo- ny were Tony's parents, Cathy Sevy and Robert Beau Sevy, and his brother, Michael David Sevy. Tony's grandparents are Mario and Flora Sevy. He also is the grandson of the late Morton and Ida Schwartz. Tony attends Orchard Lake Middle School, where he was a student of the month for the sec- ond year in a row. He is active in soccer and rollerblading.
