New President
For Beth Shalom

COMMUNITY

Mark A. Goldsmith, a former chairman of the executive com-
mittee of the Young Adult Division of the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit, will be installed as the new president
of Congregation Beth Shalom during Shabbat morning ser-
vices on Saturday, June 7.
Mr. Goldsmith is a former member of the Michigan Regional
Advisory Board of Directors of ADL and has served on the Fed-
eration's Leadership Development Committee, the Cultural
and Group Services Division and the International Affairs
Committee. In 1995 he received the second Century Award
from the Jewish Theological Seminary.
.In addition to Mr. Goldsmith, the following will be installed
as officers and trustees: Barbara Aronow, executive vice pres-
ident; Arlene Gorelick, first vice president; Susan Dones, sec-
ond vice president; Elizabeth Schubiner, third vice president;
Martin Lederman, treasurer; and Charles Gordon, record-

ing secretary.
Synagogue trustees for the coming year are David Chomsky, Elizabeth Kannon, David Kirsch,
Steven A. Levine, Marc Littman, Richard Loebl, Lenny Newman and Richard Polk. Arthur
Langer, who is completing his term of service as synagogue president, will be recognized for his
distinguished leadership, as will outgoing officers and/or trustees Daniel Biber, Lynn Tarnoff
Lipman, David Marks and Jan Wanetick. Rabbi David Nelson will officiate at the installation.
A congregational luncheon by prepaid reservation only in honor of the incoming officers and
trustees will follow services and kiddush. There is a charge. Deadline for luncheon reservations

The Metropolitan Detroit Federation of Re-
form Synagogues annual Fund for Reform Ju
daism. dinner will take place 6 p.m. Thursday,

Each Reform congregation in the metropoli-
tan Detroit community will honor out,stand
ing members with the Lamed Vav Award.
Funds raised provide for youth activities,
