Boykansky Leads Auxiliary For Aged
The Auxiliary for Jewish Aged will hold its
annual installation luncheon 11 a.m. Thurs-
day, June 5, at the Marvin and Betty Danto
Family Health Care Center. Rose Lynn
Schlussel, the installing officer, will install
Sandra Boykansky as auxiliary president
1997-1998. Florine Mark, president, the
Weight Watcher Group Inc., will be the
keynote speaker addressing "Living Longer
and Living Healthy."

Mrs. Boykansky will serve as president of
the Auxiliary for Jewish Aged for a two-year
term of office; she also will serve on the JHA
Board.

Israel Bonds Honors
Two Local Judges
Judge Paul D. Borman and Judge
Gus Cifelli will be honored by the
Metropolitan Detroit Attorneys Di-
vision of Israel Bonds 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday, June 4, at Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek in Southfield.
Judge Borman and Judge Cifel-
li will be presented with the "State
of Israel Eleanor Roosevelt Hu-
manities Award" in recognition of
their outstanding service to the le-

joined the United States District
Court, Eastern District of Michi-
gan in September of 1994. Among
his positions prior to his appoint-
ment to the Federal Bench are staff
attorney in the administration of
Justice Section of the United States
Commission on Civil Rights and
assistant U.S. attorney for the
Eastern District of Michigan from
1964 to 1966. He was chairman of
the Allied Jewish Campaign in
Judge Gus Cifelli
1986 to 1987, and he served as
president of the Jewish Communi-
ty Council from 1988 to 1991. He is a member of the ex-
ecutive board of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit.
Judge Gus Cifelli is the chiefjudge of Michigan 48th
District Court. During his tenure in private practice, he
engaged in the general practice of law in all state and
federal courts. In 1973 Mr. Cifelli became judge of the
48th District Court, and from 1976 until 1989 he served
as its chiefjudge. In addition to his responsibilities of
administration, he established procedures and stan-
dards for court operation. Judge Cifelli is a member of
the American Judges Association, the Justinian society
of Jurists, the American Judicature society, the Italian-
American Foundation and the Oakland County Associ-
ation for Retarded Citizens. For information about the

Judge Mikva, prior to his work
in the White House, served as chief
judge on the United States Court
of Appeals for the District of Co-
lumbia Circuit. Before coming to
the bench, he was elected. to Con-
gTess for five terms, representing
portions of Chicago and its suburbs,
While in the legislature, he was
chairman of the House Judiciary
Committee and helped enact a new
criminal code for Minois, as well as
a new mental health code.
