A PERSONALIZED PROGRAM
FOR FITNESS & WEIGHT LOSS

From the top, Ilene and David Techner,
Shel, Mary and Andy Leshner.

The couple decided to transfer
their baby to Children's Hospi-
tal. Prompt surgery corrected
the defect and today Brian is a
happy, healthy toddler.
"I was so impressed with the
facilities and people. It was like
the employees were there for a
mission, not just a job," recalls
Mr. Lipson.
"I wanted to create something
to raise money for the surgery
department," says Mr. Lipson,
a business tax attorney for Lip-
son, Neilson, Jacobs & Cole,
P.C. in Troy. In light of the cost
and governmental budget cuts
in the area of medical research,
Mr. Lipson says private funding
is the only way to perpetuate
the surgical department's work.
So he created a non-profit cor-
poration called ENSURE, which
stands for endowment for sur-
gical research.
So far, the 41-year-old fund-
raiser and his wife have tallied
up $75,000. "I'd like to pass the
baton, when we reach the $1
million mark."
Mr. Lipson and his dedicated
assistants are on their way.
Even West Bloomfield's Green
Elementary, where 8-year-old
son Kevin attends school, wants
to pitch in. Every spring the
school holds a Jump for Joy
fundraiser from which all mon-
eys are donated to a local cause.
This month, the school will do-
nate its funds to ENSURE.
And on June 3, Mr. and Mrs.
Lipson will host their first offi-
cial fundraising event at Matt
Prentice's newest restaurant,
Northern Lakes Seafood Com-
pany in Bloomfield Hills.
"We became involved with
this because we are both very
fortunate and wanted to give
something back in return to oth-
ers," says Mr. Lipson. "If your
child is extremely sick and he
then is cured, you consider your-
self the luckiest person on the
planet."
