Aaron Weiss, a University of
Michigan student who went to
North Farmington, urges new
students to ease into things.
"Don't overwork yourself at first,
let the academics come to you,"
he suggested, adding that "you,
and only you, should choose your
major."
"Make sure," suggested Ms.
Reinstein, "you know your
professors and TAs (teaching
assistants) and they know
you. Visit them during office
hours, participate in class,
let them know that you care
about the class. To get that A,
you have to play the game un-
less you're naturally super
smart."
She added that students
should avoid spreading them-
selves too thin. "Don't try to get
involved in everything. Time
management is really the key to
college," she said.
Mr. Rudick pointed out that
fulfilling course requirements is
just one of many considerations
you need to make when plan-
ning your schedule. "The loca-
tion of one class to another is
more important than the sub-
ject matter of the class," he said.
"You will not want to travel two
miles to the other end of campus
in 14 minutes between your
classes."
Most importantly, don't for-
get to have a good time, because
before you know it you'll be
saddled with earning a living
in the cruel, cut-throat "real
world."
Said Mr. Weiss, "Enjoy the
time you get with your friends
— you'll never get another op-
portunity like it."
Said Ms. Reinstein, "Enjoy
each day of college and take ad-
vantage of all the opportunities.
After all, these are the golden
years of freeloading off your par-
ents!"
