during the High Holiday services
and volunteered for the SOS pro-
ject at Temple Israel, spent time
helping at Grandma's House, in-
fant daycare, and made a dona-
tion to the Children's Leukemia
Foundation in memory of her late
grandfather Lester Gould. Re-
becca enjoys dancing, reading
and writing.

Alexis Kandel

Alexis Jaye Kandel of West
Bloomfield was called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Sat-
urday morning, May 10, at Tem-
ple Israel.
Participating in the service
were Ali's proud parents, Cindy
and Mark Kandel, her sister
Shaina, and grandparents Bev-
erly and Fred Kandel.
Ali also is the sister of the late
Stephan R. Kandel and grand-
daughter of the late Janet and
Felix Rosenberger.
A student at Abbott Middle
School, Ali enjoys dancing,
singing, acting and swimming.

Rebecca Elisabeth Blinder of
West Bloomfield will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah at
Temple Israel 6 p.m. Saturday,
May 17. Leading the service will
be Rabbis M. Robert Syme,
Harold Loss, Paul Yedwab and
Joshua Bennett, along with Can-
' tor Harold Orbach.
Participating in the service
will be Rebecca's parents, Laurie
and Mark, and her brother Ben-
jamin. Grandparents Dorothy
Gould of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and
Marilyn and Hyman Blinder of
Southfield, and great-grandfa-
ther Isak Blinder of Southfield
will also attend, along with many
friends and relatives from around
the country. A celebration will
follow.

Hills Middle School and attends
Hebrew school at Temple Israel.

Jared Goldberg

Jared Goldberg will celebrate his
bar mitzvah at Temple Beth El
on Friday evening, May 16. Rab-
bi Daniel Syme, Rabbi David
Castiglione and Cantor Stephen
Dubov will lead the services.
Jared is the son of Sherry and
Jeffrey Goldberg. He is the
grandson of the late Alex and
Gertrude Beerbohm. Jared's sis-
ter Jennifer will participate in
the service.
Jared is an honor student at
Orchard Lake Middle School,
where he is on the wrestling
team. His interests include skate-
boarding and collecting comic
books.
Jared's mitzvah projects in-
clude helping the senior citizens
at Butzel Center at Camp Tama-
rack and working with the spe-
cial needs students on Saturday
mornings at Temple Beth El.
A celebration in Jared's honor
will be held Saturday evening at
Temple Beth El.
