When it comes to Jewish out-
reach, you can't beat Hillel, the
international campus program
started by B'nai B'rith. So it's
hardly surprising that Hillel di-
rector Richard Joel and his gung-
ho campus troops have one of the
slickest Jewish Web sites going.
The site opens with a collection
of pictures showing smiling Hil-
lelers.
The left side of the screen —
the left "frame," in Netscape par-
lance — includes choices that
lead you-to detailed information
about Hillel programs.
So click on Campus Life and
you can read the news from Hil-
lel chapters around the country,
get the inside scoop on Hillel pub-
lications or learn about the "X-
Change" program, an "interactive
marketplace for the ideas which
will transform how students ex-
perience student life on campus
for the next decade."
There's also career informa-
tion and information on intern-
ships, fellowships, mentoring
programs and employment ser-
vices.
The "Jewish.Edu " section of-
fers studies of Jewish texts and
"Rabbi Cyberstein": ask a ques-
tion about Jewish life — "no ques-
tion is too simple, no question too
complex," they say — and get an
answer back by e-mail.
The "SlunOoze Cafe" offers ac-
cess to on-line discussion groups;
eventually, it will be the gateway
to chat rooms where Hillel par-
ticipants worldwide will be able
to get together for real-time Jew-
ish cyber-chatter.
The right side of the screen,
with cute animated icons along
the bottom, is more geared to ca-
sual visitors: an e-mail Jewish
quiz game, links to Jewish news
services and organizations, and
a contest section that eventually
will feature ... well, contests.
Right now, it's still in the plan-
ning stages.
The bottom line? An attractive,
well-designed site with a wealth
of Jewish information for college
kids — and for older folks who
are tired of all the doom-and-
gloom stories about Jewish con-
tinuity.
Check it out at http://www.hil-

lel.org.
