trade pact during next week's four-day visit to Israel.

awaited trip to Israel will
include visits with Prime
Minister Bibi Netanyahu,
cabinet ministers and business
leaders. The governor will also
spend time in Michigan's Part-
nership 2000 region, visiting as
well with political and business
leaders.
One of the highlights of the gov-
ernor's visit, which begins Sun-
day, May 18, will be the unveiling
of an extensive strategic trade
program between the Central
Galilee municipalities of Nazareth
Ilk, Jerreel Valley Regional Coun-
cil, Migdal HaEmek and Michi-
gan.
Governor Engler will announce
the agreement at the Phoenicia
Glass Factory, which is owned by
Michigan businessmen and phil-
anthropists William Davidson
and David Hermelin.
The agreement specifies that
the state shall conduct two
searches per month in Michigan
for strategic opportunity partners

for Israeli companies. Michigan
will also allow the Central Galilee
to advertise, at no cost, strategic
trade opportunities in State of
Michigan trade and investment
promotional literature.
Michigan will also organize a
one-day seminar in Detroit to
promote trade opportunities be-
tween the state and Israeli com-
panies. And, the Central Galilee
will conduct two searches per
month in Israel for opportuni-
ty partners with Michigan corn-
panies.
The governor's trip will also in-
clude Jordan and Italy. The gov-
ernor and Mrs. Engler will begin
their tour visiting Jerusalem and
the Davidson Archaeological
Park near the Western Wall.
Sunday's itinerary includes meet-
ings with Jerusalem Mayor Ehud
Olmert and U.S. Ambassador
Martin Indyk. The governor will
also meet with GM/UMI officials

tween Israel and Michigan and
we're also building closer ties be-
tween the governor and the Jew-
ish community of Michigan."
