Dr. Firooz Banooni will be the fea-
tured speaker at the Temple Is-
rael Treasures meeting noon-2

Dr. Banooni, born, raised and
schooled in Iran, is on the staff of
Sinai and is an assistant clini-
cal professor at Wayne State Uni-
versity. Dr. Banooni will share

Annual Elections

The Institute for Retired Profes-
sionals will hold its annual elec-
tion dinner 5:30 p.m. Wednesday,
May 21, at Congregation Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses.
Judy Samson, founding direc-
tor of the IRP, will install the
newly-elected officers and mem-
bers-at-large as follows: Jordan
Isaacs, president; Al Ascher, Bob
Chapin and Marilyn Luebeck,
vice presidents; Sylvia Serwin,
secretary; David Hoptman, trea-
surer; Edward Chalom, Arthur
Kohn, Helen Resnick and David
Silberg, members-at-large.
Entertainment for the evening
will feature the Lira Trio, Larisa
Matusova, Ida Kogan and Rivka
Latinskaya. The trio is accompa-
nied by Regina Papiyants. There
is a charge and guests are wel-
come.

Senior Plans

A presentation by Holocaust sur-
vivor compensation attorney

William R. Marks will be held 1-

3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
The conference is free of charge
and open to the community. Free
transportation is available from
the Jewish Community Center in
Oak Park. Buses will depart at
12:30 p.m. Sign up at the recep-
tion desk or by calling (248) 967-
4030.
The JPM JCC will host Cafe
Europa Detroit 12:30-2 p.m. Mon-
day, May 19. This program, spon-
sored by Sinai Hospital and the
Jewish Community Center, is for
Holocaust survivors of Detroit.
The cafe is free for Holocaust sur-
vivors and families; others will be
charged.
Entertainer Marsha Rofel will
perform 1 p.m. Thursday, May
22, to celebrate Lag B'Omer. This
concert is free for members and
$1 for non-members.
