Soros Expands
El-Roy Stake

Jerusalem (JPFS)— Two funds
controlled by American invest-
ment magnate George Soros
have raised their stake in El-
Rov Israel Ltd., from 16 percent
to 23 percent.
The Soros Group paid 35 per-
cent above the shares' pre-
Passover value. The group also
hopes to help El-Rov raise ad-
ditional capital in the United
States.
El-Rov is a public property-
development and investment
company controlled by busi-
nessman Alfred Akirov, who
owns a majority of shares. It has
subsidiaries in the real-estate,
high-tech, industrial, tourism
and investment fields. Other
major shareholders include
some of Bank Leumi's and Bank
Hapoalim's institutional in-
vestors.
Within the next three years,
El-Rov is expected to invest in
the completion of two major
properties — an office complex
in Tel Aviv and the Mamilla
project in Jerusalem.

liance to develop and test a
range of network-based appli-
cations for the graphic arts and
printing industries.
The digital graphic network
will join corporate marketing de-
partments, designers, advertis-
ing agencies, picture libraries,
printers and publishers togeth-
er in a secure network, provid-
ing member companies with
access to a host of services via a
single communication platform.
A pilot service is planned for lat-
er this year and the companies
expect to go into service in ear-
ly 1988.

Communications has an-
nounced the opening of its sec-
ond Asian Pacific regional
bureau, in Beijing. China is the
second largest market for RAD,
which designs and markets a
range of solutions for local and
wide area networks.
The RAD China office will
provide marketing and techni-
cal support to RAD distributors
in the country and will assess
and develop other possibilities
for technical cooperation and ex-
change in the country.
