Elyse Reed Sklar will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Sat-
urday, May 10, at Temple Israel.
Rabbis Harold Loss and Joshua
Bennett and Cantor Harold Or-
bach will lead the service.
Participating in the service will
be Elyse's parents, Beth and Bob
Sklar, and her brother, Josh. A
party will follow the Havdalah ser-
vice at Temple Israel.
Elyse's proud grandparents are
Jean and Irving Rosen. Elyse also
is the granddaughter of the late
Dorothy and Joseph Sklar.
Elyse is an honor student at
Warner Middle School, where she
plays the clarinet and French
horn. She attends Hebrew School
at Temple Israel. She's a compet-
itive ice speedskater who also en-
joys cycling, drawing, writing and
acting. Her mitzvah projects in-
cluded volunteer work with the
Farmington area Goodfellows.
Austin Weisman
Austin Daniel Weisman will be
called to the.Torah as a bar mitz-
vah on Friday, May 9, at Temple
Israel.
Participating in the ceremony
will be Austin's parents, Lisa and
Gary, his brother Ethan, and
grandmother Dorothy Weisman.
Austin also is the grandson of the
late Arthur and Dorothy Beckwith
and the late Donald Weisman.
Austin is a student at Berkshire
Middle School in Birmingham. He
enjoys all sports, especially tennis,
golf, baseball and skiing. In prepa-
ration for his bar mitzvah, Austin
volunteered at Temple Israel's
homeless shelter, and assisted the
elderly during recreational activ-
ities at the Fleischman Residence.
