BBYO Holds
Dance, Election
The Detroit Tennis and Squash
Club in Farmington Hills will host
the Great Eight Tennis Challenge
12:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10.
The free tournament features
eight Michigan professionals play-
ing on outdoor clay courts. Ad-
mission is free.
The pros include Brett Beattie,
the host pro, former University of
Michigan star Dan Goldberg, for-
mer touring pro Steve Herdoiza
of West Bloomfield and Armand
Molino of Bloomfield Hills.
The Detroit Tennis and Suciash
Club is on Drake Road, just south
of 14 Mile.
Kishon and Greenberg AZA
Chapters will co-sponsor a dance
called "The Big Ball" 9:30 p.m.-
12:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at
the Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center. The program will
include games, a raffle and band
music from the Greenberg Band,
the Kishon Band and Mystery
Soup. There is a $6 or $5 plus a
can of food admission charge.
Elections for officers of each of
the BBG and AZA chapters is
continuing. Newly elected presi-

Twenty-three area graduates will
be honored 3 p.m. Sunday, May
18, at Temple Beth El at the 52nd
annual Youth Awards program
sponsored by the League of Jew-
ish Women's Organizations of
Greater Detroit. Rabbi Daniel B.
Syme of Temple Beth El will be
the featured speaker. A reception
honoring the students, hosted by
the Sisterhood of Temple Beth El,
will follow the program.
The 1997 student honorees in-
clude Beverly Betel, Robyn Berlin,
Jason Bloom, Elana Erdstein,
Beth Farber, Jeremy Fogel, Eri-
ca Freeman, Stacy Gastwirth,
Jenna Goldenberg, Andy Halberg,

Lead Services
On Saturday, May 10, students
and alumni of Hillel Day School
whose families are members of
Congregation Beth Achim will
participate in the Shabbat morn-
ing services. The students will
lead parts of the service and pre-
sent a program in honor of Yom
Ha'atzmaut.

Singer Gives
Musical Review
A musical book review by mezzo
soprano Barbara Alexander will
be the featured fare at the noon
Tuesday, May 20, luncheon of the
Beth Elders of Temple Beth El.
Ms. Alexander, joined by accom-
panist Doris Hall, will tell the sto-
ry of popular songs of famous
Broadway productions in word
and song.
Cost of the luncheon is $8 per
