Mark Fox and Anthony Luensman combine traditional puppetry,
animation, sound art, sculpture and painting in Stain: unconsum-
mate acts. In this multimedia performance/mstallation, performers
operate in a space shared with sculpted figures, cast shadows, real
and invented musical instruments; the story follows a character's
ascent from a turbulent past to a more pure but equally danger-
ous present through a moving combination of image and sound. This
is a performance not to be missed. Ages 13 and older. 11:30 a.m. and
2 p.m. Saturday, May 3. $4; $1/children; free/members. Detroit In-
stitute of Arts, 5200 Woodward. (313) 833-7900.
