Michael Bagdade, a Jewish
senior at West Bloomfield High,
said he has been impressed by
the commonalities between
Jews and African Americans,
and feels that tensions between
the two groups are often exag-
gerated. "We feel the media re-
ally feeds on that and loves to
keep the tension going. Black on
black crime is not front-page
news, but Jewish-black tensions
are a big deal," he said.

who especially enjoyed the
chance to talk about stereotypes
and prejudices, said, "We start-
ed talking about the differences,
but we discovered we had more
in common."
An attorney and a member of
• the executive committee of the
ADL, Mr. Serling taught in
Detroit while he was in law
school and enjoys having the op-
portunity to work with teen-
agers again. His co-leader,
Chuck Domstein, is a history
teacher who has been at Oak
Park High since the 1960s,
when the school was predomi-
nantly Jewish.

"Kids who go through the pro-
gram are a lot more accepting of
each other," said Mr. Domstein,
who added that the group's skits
have received positive feedback
from teachers throughout metro
Detroit.
