The De- troit riots drove him out in 1967. The Glassman Oldsmobile dealership has been in Southfield for 27 years. Jerome Glassman is still very active in the business, although he spends a lot of time in Flori- da. "When he's here, we work well together," said his son, George. The younger Glassman joined the family company 17 years ago. He's a non-practicing attorney, a graduate of the University of De- troit Law School. He de- cided that entering the automobile business would be a "reasonable challenge. If I need to take care of someone's problems, it might as well be my own," he said.
