Israel Bonds Honors Nusbaum
Barbara Nusbaum will be honored by the Metro Detroit
State of Israel Bonds Women's Division for her dedi-
cation and support of the Jewish community and the
State of Israel at a Diamond Trustee/Prime Minister
Club dinner, 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, at the home of
Doreen and David B. Hermelin.
The event, chaired by Sandra Dembs, is open to 1997
purchasers of $10,000 or more in State of Israel Bonds.
Dr. Ellen Cannon, political scientist, will be the guest
speaker.
Ms. Nusbaum has served on the Women's Division
board for the past 12 years. She has been president of
JARC for the past three years. She and her husband
have been chosen to co-chair the 1997 fundraiser for the
United Scleroderma Foundation of Southeast Michi-
gan.
The Nusbaums are longtime members of Congrega-
tion Beth Abraham Hillel Moses. Ms. Nusbaum sup-
ports Bar-Ilan, Hadassah, ORT, Sinai Hospital Guild

and B'nai B'rith. •
For her outstanding work with new Americans, Ms.
Nusbaum, in 1992, was a recipient of the United Foundation Heart of Gold
Award.

John Loftus
John Loftus, former prosecutor with
the U.S. Justice Department, will
be the guest speaker at the Israel
Bonds Health Services Division
Tribute Dinner, 5:30 p.m. Thurs-
day, May 8, at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.
During the Carter and Reagan
administrations, Mr. Loftus was a
prosecutor with the Justice De-
partment's Office of Special Inves-
tigations (Nazi War Crimes Unit),
which. President Carter created in
1979. He resigned from the Justice .
Department and exposed a Nazi
scandal on an Emmy Award-win-
ning segment of "60 Minutes."
He has been an international ad-
viser on Nazi prosecution, authored
several books and articles.and re-
ceived numerous humanitarian
awards. .

Sisterhood Cites Volunteer
.
The Adat Shalom Sisterhood will hold its annual Donor Day luncheon and
program 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at the synagogue.
The event will feature.a fashion show and honors for Nita Lichtenstein,
who has served as a sisterhood volunteer for nearly 30 years.
Mrs. Lichtenstein was president of the
sisterhood in 1968-70. In recent years,
she has been the synagogue's kiddush
chairman. She is also a past president of
local chapters of B'nai B'rith, Women's
American ORT and Hadassah.
Donor Day will begin with coffee and
boutiques. Lunch will be served at noon.
Advance reservations are required.
A platinum chai donation of $360 in-
cludes two luncheon tickets. Diamond
chai tickets are $250 per person; golden
chai $180; silver chai $108; and triple chai
$54.
A doubt chai contribution of $36 is the
minimum contribution to attend Donor
Day. Proceeds from the afternoon will
help support sisterhood projects.
