Florida Checks \ / 7 111atzah-Makers ■ Miami — The Florida attorney general has subpoenaed two matzah manufacturers and sev- en distributors in an effort to find out why Passover matzah has such a broad price differen- tial in the United States and in Florida. \— Five pounds of Manischewitz matzah cost as low as $3.99 in Century City, Calif. and as much as $11.99 in Boca Raton, Fla. In 1991, Manischewitz plead- ed guilty to federal price-fixing charges and paid a $1 million penalty and donated food to charity worth $1.8 million. A spokesman for a regional upermarket chain in the South- /– east blamed the price differen- tial on marketing methods. Her zhain, she said sold the same matzah for $3 less in Atlanta than it did in some parts of Flori- da. A grocery chain in the Northeast said it used matzah as a loss-leader to draw in cus- tomers. 4ionist Jubilee In Switzerland Basel — One hundred years af- ter the first Zionist Congress was held in Switzerland, the city of Basel will host a jubilee ses- sion. Arab Child Regains Limb Jerusalem — Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem re- cently reattached the arm of a 1-year-old Jericho boy, Abed Sal- adich. The successful operation has restored feeling and movement to the limb. The arm was severed by a farm tractor while the boy's par- ents were picking oranges. Only a flap of skin kept the limb at- tached at the shoulder after the accident. The boy was rushed to Ra- mallah Hospital, but then tak- en by ambulance to Shaare Zedek. The surgery succeeded even though the arm was de- prived of blood for 10 hours. ❑ Classic. Unusual. Intricate. Historical, Valuable. Distinctive. End Timeless. Buyable.
