But what is a mitzvah for you
is good business for these men
and women; and with the same
people asking for charity day in
and day out, year in and year
out, it can prove a handy way to
make a living.
And the soliciting is not al-
ways done politely. It is common
to be told a contribution is too
small, to have- small change
thrown to the ground and for
tourists to be asked for donations
only in dollars.
At the Western Wall police
station, complaints are con-
