"Why Is This Night Different
From All Others?" will be the
theme of the next Family Matters
Forum 7:30 p.m. Wednesday,
April 16, at the Max M. Fisher
Building, Butzel Conference
Suite.
Sponsored by the Jewish Fed-
eration of Metropolitan Detroit
and the Michigan Psychoanalyt-
ic Foundation, the forum will ex-
plore important issues related to
raising a Jewish child.
Speakers will include Rabbi
Paul Yedwab of Temple Israel,
Dr. Purima Mehta and Dr. Jack
Novick.
Dr. Mehta is a supervisor at
the Wayne State University de-
partment of psychiatry and teach-
es at medical institutions
throughout the community. She
is in private practice in child and
adult psychiatry and psycho-
analysis.
Dr. Novick is a child and ado-
lescent supervising analyst at the
Michigan Psychoanalytic Insti-
tute and clinical associate pro-
fessor of psychiatry at the
University of Michigan and
Wayne State University medical
schools.
Rabbi Yedwab has served at
Temple Israel since 1986, and is
a member of Federation's Israel
and Overseas Committee and
Community Services Division.
Dessert will be served. Admis-

annual "Passover Pop-In," a pro-
gram to help families prepare for
Passover, 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday,
April 16, at the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Jewish Community Cen-
ter. The evening will feature ac-

tivities for families. @Regular

Community Wide Intergenera-

ME Hosts
Symposium

The Agency for Jewish Education
will host a symposium, "Tuning
In to Teens: Strategies for Jewish
Teen Education." The symposium
will consist of four sessions, each
targeting a specific population.
During each session, Stan Bein-
er, executive director of the Cen-
tral Agency for Jewish Education
in Denver, Co., will discuss cur-
rent issues and strategies in the
field of Jewish teen education.
Jewish educators are encour-
aged to attend 5:15-8 p.m. Tues-
day, April 15, at Temple Israel. A
kosher dinner will be provided.
Immediately following, from 8-10
p.m., Mr. Beiner will meet with
lay leaders with teen poi (folios to
discuss issues including advoca-
cy for teen programming and fi-
nancial resource department.
An open dialogue and idea ex-
change for all will take place
noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16,
at Adat Shalom Synaoguge.
Kosher lunch will be provided.
The final session for congre-
gational rabbis and Jewish high
school teachers and directors is
scheduled for 6:15-9 p.m.
Wednesday, April 16, at Adat
Shalom Synagogue. Mr. Beiner
will share techniques and ideas
to engage Jewish teens educa-
tionally. Kosher dinner will be
provided.

Ms. Lynn Farber's third grade at Akiva Hebrew Day School has been involved in a
project related to its unit on Antarctica and penguins, yielding over 300 plastic
gallon milk containers. Students gathered and assembled the 5-foot igloo over a
