Ilana is an honor student at
Warner Middle School. She plays

EMU Hillel will unveil its new
programs 8:30 p.m. Thursday,
April 17, in the McKenny Union
Ballroom, Ypsilanti, with "Some-
thing for Everyone: A Cappella
and Comedy Tonight!" featuring
Ellen Steigman and the Accafel-
las.
Ellen Steigman is the winner
of New York Comedy Club's
monthly stand-up contest; the
Accafellas are eight singing men.
Cost is $2 in advance, $3 at the

Lauren is an honor student at
Norup Middle School where she
plays violin in the school or-
chestra. Her other interests in-
clude piano, which she has
studied for seven years, dance
and mystery writing.
In preparation for her bat
mitzvah, Lauren volunteered at
Jewish Family Service Group
Apartments for the Elderly Pro-
gram. Lauren also performed a
piano concert for the residents
of the Group Apartments. As a
member of Temple Emanu-El's
Youth Choir, she has enter-
tained at nursing homes and
hospitals. On Thanksgiving,
Lauren served dinner to the
homeless at the Salvation Army
Harbor Light Center.

Meklir, will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah at Tem-
ple Emanu-El on Friday, April
11.
Participating in the service
will be her mother and her great-
aunts and uncles Barbara and
Sheldon Schubiner and Helen
and Roy Clark. Also joining her
on the bimah will be her aunt
Sydney Newberg and her uncle
Robert Tessler. Lauren is the
Machon L'Torah, the Jewish Net-
work of Michigan, will hold a deli
dinner co-sponsored by the Jew-
ish Student Association of Cen-
tral Michigan University 6:30
p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the
Bovee Student Center. Rabbi Ja-
cobovitz will lead a discussion on
"Miracles." There is no charge.
