He had a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Penn- sylvania and a law degree from Wayne State Law School. Mr. Sclar was a member of the Michigan State Bar Associa- tion, a 50-year member of the American Chemical Society. He was also a member of Tech- nion, a member of the Institute for Retired Professionals and a volunteer at Lawrence Tech- nology Institute. He received a day in his honor in Southfield and a key to the city; he volun- teered for its legal department and at the public library. He also volunteered at the South- field High School library and had several articles published in the Southfield Eccentric honoring him. Mr. Sclar is survived by his wife, Charlotte Lev Sclar; sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Diana Sclar of New Jersey, Dr. William and Jeanette Y.
