LYNNE KONSTANTIN STAFF WRITER

I t was a dream come true.

For 12 years, my friends and I have been
quoting lines from The Sure Thing: "Paris
girls'll give you a hard time," "I'm intellectu-
al and stuff" and similar gems.
John Cusack, the unrivaled star of Rob Reiner's
second directorial venture, had obtained hero sta-
tus within our oft-misunderstood group. It may not
have been filmmaking genius to the rest of the
world, but it spoke to our young hearts and humor.
And, of course, Better Off Dead and Say Anything
did nothing to diminish Cusack's stature (Think: "I
want my two dollaaars!" and prancing burgers).
The girl with the starstruck crush grew up to re-
port on entertainment happenings in The Jewish
News. One day, lo and behold — John Cusack was
coming to town!
