THE LEAD TAKEN by
Sperber's Kosher Catering with
its Tuesday night kosher dinners
at the West Bloomfield Jewish
Community Center on Drake
and Maple may have started
something big.•
Now Jeffrey Rosenberg,
kosher caterer at Adat Shalom
Synagogue, may also enter the
kosher dining scene, on Wednes-
day nights.
With no kosher restaurants
here anymore, Sperber's Tues-
day evening dinners have taken
hold with a heavy grip ... So
much so that Alan Linker and
Sperber's are thinking about a
second evening, possibly Thurs-
days.
Kosher folks and others are
thrilled at the prospect of other
nights by Alan and Jeffrey.
THE FIRST boat of the 1997
season will be launched into
Lake St. Clair's Anchor Bay on
Tuesday, April 8. •
It has become an annual tra-
dition for the return of Mac &
Ray's to a year-round six-day
schedule ... after reduced hours
during the winter.
Mac & Ray's restaurant is of-
ficially welcoming spring with
its third annual Launch Party
this Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 11
p.m.
There'll be beverage specials,
continuous entertainment and
its annual parade, which begins
at noon and includes the Red
Garter Band and Mac & Ray's
"Pots & Pans Brigade."
FIRST IT WAS a Chinese
restaurant noted solely for its
Cantonese dishes ... Then the
Oriental food was joined by
white fish ... eventually making
it the largest seller of whitefish
in this area by any restaurant
other than a seafood house.
Now Gene Woo at Hoa Kow in
Crosswind's Mall, Orchard Lake
Road and Lone Pine, has gone
another step further in his culi-
nary versatility.
Along with Gene's 15 ways of
preparing whitefish comes six
preparations of Black Angus
steak.
In May, Hoa Kow will cele-
brate anniversary No. 42 ...
dating back to pioneering on
Nine Mile in Oak Park and mov-
ing to its present locale at Cross-
wind's Mall.
What's next in Gene's culinary
endeavors? ... Be assured that
there will be something ... And
the best part of it is that none of
his dining specialties suffer. ❑
