"And my friends at the rink help a lot. They make me realize that what I have is really great." Chalom, who finished second with partner Matthew Gates in senior dance at the U.S. Nation- als and 17th at the World Cham- pionships in March, "is one of my best friends," Silverstein says. "I talk to her a fair amount. She's helped a lot because at one point I was having partner troubles and she helped a lot with that ... "Whenever I have a bad day there's always someone at the rink to give me a hug and talk to me, which is good." Silverstein and Pekarek will remain at the junior level for at least one more season. They hope to qualify for the 1998 World Championships.
