Children learn the art of baking Jewish
bread at B'nai Moshe.
C
ongregation B'nai Moshe in West
Bloomfield, in conjunction with Jew-
ish Experiences for Families, drew
a small but energetic crowd of chil-
dren to an after-school challah-making party
on March 26.
With the goal of bringing kids into the syn-
agogue on days other than holidays or for re-
ligious school, Rita Abramson, B'nai Moshe's
educational director, says the events are struc-
tured like children's birthday parties. The idea
was inspired by after-school specials on TV,
she said.
Challah-mania showed the kids how to
make "challah babies" (braided pantyhose
that look like challah), challah covers and
braided challah bread. ❑
