Israel has a saying: "One na-
tion, one station." Moti thinks it
should be "one nation, one per-
son. We are supposed to be unit-
ed." Given the current political
and security climate, "everybody
should give what they can," he
says. "Everything is a piece of
one, big oiled machine. We need
every part for it to work."
The perceived animosity be-
tween religious and secular re-
garding army service is "a stigma
that people give to all religious
people in Israel, but this is not
correct," says Moti. "There are
some great parts of the religious
parties that are not only serving,
but serving on the front lines."
He admits to feeling some re-
sentment for the haredim who do
not serve at all, "but you have to
come to the conclusion that they
are serving God and praying for
us in their own way. We have to
be open-minded. If we are going
to argue all our lives, then in the
end we will come to the conclu-
sion that we have achieved noth-
ing and neither side gave
anything." 0
