English. I'm sure there's
an Italian version some-
where in the restaurant, as
owners Lori and Angelo Di Seg-
ni have combined the best of
their worlds with the Jewish
world in a culinary effort that
tantalizes even the most finicky
eaters.
Angelo Ristorante Italiano, at
9 Horkanos Street in Jerusalem,
not far from the religious neigh-
borhood of Meah Shearim and a
stone's throw from popular,
trendy Ben Yehuda Street, pro-
vides elegant northern Italian
cuisine with a kosher flair. All
dairy, of course.
There are sidewalk tables, as

if it were a warm day in Florence.
There's ambiance and art deco
fixtures inside, as if you were din-
ing in a bistro in Washington,
D.C.'s ethnic neighborhood of
Adam's Morgan. Worlds apart
have become worlds together.
Lori, a kosher-style caterer
from Washington, met Angelo
through a friend who worked
within the Jewish Agency.
He made aliyah from Rome in
1993.
"We went out once and have
been together ever since," she
says.
First date, second date, start
a restaurant together. Angelo
Ristorante opened its doors on
July 28, 1994, as everything the
couple wanted: a small setting,
good location, some-
thing they could
"manage with our
own hands," she
says.
