The mechanism in compensa- tion often is a rise in blood pres- sure. A study by Israeli researchers published in a recent issue of the journal followed 101 healthy men between the ages of 28 and 63 with normal blood pressure. "The researchers found that 35 percent of the men in the low- est weight group experienced blood-pressure increases of at least 10 (numerical units) from summer to winter," said Weber, who pointed out that 8 percent of the men in the highest weight group experienced a similar in- crease in blood pressure. The climatic conditions ex- amined in the study represent temperatures to which Israeli cit- izens are normally exposed, and are not extremes of heat or cold. "Physicians should be aware that an increase in blood pres- sure in their thin hypertensive patients could be attributed to the season and not to a lack of medication or treatment effec- tiveness," Weber said. ❑ Copley News Service , , ' ,„ as •• , nc44i 24 Month Lease 31i1NO *24 mo. closed end lease with approved credit. 12,000 miles allowed per year on lease vehicles. 150 per mile if over 12,000 miles per year.
