afford a fragmented people, torn
apart by schisms and factionalism?
Is there not an urgent necessity to
restore our shared affirmation of
Jewish faith and destiny, our com-
mon loyalty to our heritage and
our hope of redemption?
Although the passage of time
transforms the circumstances of
life, the human condition remains
the same. Sacrificial observances
were the personal and collective
experiences by which the people
expressed their reverence to the
Almighty and their fellowship with
each other.
We need to read Leviticus with
understanding minds and re-
sponsive hearts so that we absorb
its lessons and, appreciating their
sublime purpose, find new ex-
pression for them in our lives. CI
