Zak participates in forensics and
played basketball for the Cobras.
His other interests include table
tenths, baseball, golf, music, ten-
nis and movies.
In preparation for his bar mitz-
vah, Zak volunteered in a variety
of activities, some of which in-
clude the Special Olympics and
Save-A-T He Sunday.
Zak and his family will travel
to Israel this summer to com-
memorate this special event.

David Alekman

David Marc Alekman of Farm-
ington Hills will be bar mitzvah
at Temple Israel on Saturday,
March 22. Rabbis M. Robert
Syme, Harold S. Loss, Paul M.
Yedwab, Joshua Bennett and
Cantor Harold Orbach will lead
services.
Participating in the ceremony
will be David's parents, Ann Gold-
stein Alekman and Paul Alek-
man, and his siblings Fawn, Jeff
and Hayley.
Proud grandparents are Bessie
Goldstein and Sophie and Louis
Alekman. David also is the grand-
son of the late Hyman E. Gold-
stein. A party will be held at
Shenandoah Country Club.
David is a student at Warner
Middle School in Farmington
Hills and attends Hebrew school
at Temple Israel. He is active in
sports and likes to collect comic
books. As part of his mitzvot,
David contributed part of his bar
mitzvah monies to the Jewish Na-
tional Fund. He also worked at
the Edward I. and Freda Fleis-
chman Residence in West Bloom-
field.

Daniel Eugene Simon celebrated
his bar mitzvah on Saturday,
March 8, at Temple Beth El. Par-
ticipating in the ceremony were
Daniel's parents, Lori and David
Simon, his older brother Michael,
his younger sister Katie, his
grandparents Boots Fenton, Peg-
gy Simon and Ed Fenton.
Danny volunteered several
times at Meals on Wheels during
the year prior to his bar mitzvah
and will continue to do so. A stu-
dent at Birmingham Covington
School, Danny is interested in
golf, snowboarding, tennis and ar-
chitecture.
