Cooking Classes

Temple Shir Shalom will present
cooking classes with some of the
metro Detroit area's chefs start-
ing 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, with
Chef Jim Barnett, corporate chef
of Unique Restaurant Corpora-
tion. He will teach about seafood
and fish.
The second class will be 7 p.m.

Tuesday, April 8, with Chef Dan
Rowlson, chef instructor of culi-
nary arts at Oakland Communi-
ty College and pastry chef at
Franklin Hills Country Club. He
will teach about desserts.
The third class will take place
7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, and will
feature Chef Loren Hoffman of
Sebastian's Restaurant; the
menu will feature Passover cook-
ing.
The last class will feature Chef
Greg Upshur, executive chef at
Too Chez of Novi. He will feature
soups and bread at his course.
All courses run approximately
1 1/2 hours. The fee per class is
$20 or $70 for the complete series.

The Huntington Woods Minyan

Temple Israel
Purim Plans

The Temple Israel Nursery and
Religious School, pre-kinder-
garten through third-grade, will
have a party with clowns, face
painting, creating crowns and
masks and making shalach man-
ot baskets 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday,
March 22. This will be followed
by chimer.
The congregation will hear the
reading of the megillah at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, March 23, Temple
Israel will hold its 46th annual
Purim Carnival from noon to 3
p.m., sponsored by the Youth
Federation of Temple Israel. It
will feature lunch, cake walk,
moon walk, games and prizes.
The annual blood drive, under
the sponsorship of Temple Israel
Brotherhood, will take place from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day.
