GOSSIP! GOSSIP! GOSSIP!

I'm always amused and entertained by the gossip about ShoonaKidsTM.
I'm so busy running my company I can't imagine having the time to gossip about other stores.

The most amusing yet is that ShoonaKidsTM Sylvan Lake store has closed. WRONG!
We have been quietly preparing ourselves for the upcoming spring, summer season and all of the
innovative new products for our fall ShoonafleeceTM line.
Sorry to disappoint the old "rumor mill", but we've opened an additional store, not closed one.
We look forward to seeing all - of our regulars and welcoming new customers to our 2nd store in
Birmingham.

The daily compliments received in "130TH" stores brings pride & satisfaction knowing our hard
"work" is well respected by our customers.
I'm in this business to provide you with great garments, fair prices and the rule that all customers
are treated fairly and equally with kindness exactly the way I would want to be treated.
My staff and I would like to thank all of our wonderful customers for their encouragement and sup-
port. We look forward to many years ahead of new friendships, giggles and squeals from all of the
adorable faces and providing great clothing & gifts at great prices.
Stop in and see us and don't forget to bring the kids!!!

Arafat Tempers
D.C. Rhetoric

JAMES D. BESSER

WASHINGTON CORRESPONDENT

Yassir Arafat got the red carpet
treatment in Washington for his
sixth meeting with top officials,
but he came away with only bits
and pieces of the top items on his
agenda.
The Palestinian leader's emo-
tional complaints about Israel's
decision to build new housing in
the Har Homa section of east
Jerusalem did produce a presi-
dential rebuke on Monday.
"I would have preferred the de-
cision not have been made, be-
cause I don't think it builds
confidence," President Clinton told
reporters. "I think it builds mis-
trust. And. I wish that it had not
been made."
But administration officials also
signaled that they are unlikely to
go much beyond that level of crit-
icism — publicly or privately. And
Mr. Arafat was told explicitly by
American officials that new
threats of violence or promises to
unilaterally declare a Palestinian
state in response to the Har Homa
decision would be counterproduc-
tive.
Speaking recently to a gather-
ing ofArab-Americans, Mr. Arafat
said that "not one single house
should be added" in east
Jerusalem, and that the Arab part
of the city would become the "cap-
ital of Palestine."
But Mr. Arafat met with spe-
cial Mideast envoy Dennis Ross
just before that speech; there were
reports that Mr. Ross urged the
Palestinian leader to temper his
rhetoric and avoid threats, advice
the former terrorist seemed to
take to heart throughout his vis-
it.
In a session with Secretary of
State Madeleine Albright, Mr.
Arafat offered a "very emotional
but also very well put and very ar-
ticulate presentation" on the Har
Homa issue, according to State
Department spokesman Nicholas
Burns.
But that pitch also failed to gen-
erate the kind of strong U.S. pres-
sure that the Palestinians had
hoped for.
On a more positive note for the
Palestinian leader, Mr. Arafat and
Ms. Albright did announce the cre-
ation of a joint U.S.-Palestinian
committee, with themselves as co-
chairs, to regularly "take stock of
where we are in the region ... to
make sure each of us is meeting
our commitments — economic, po-
litical and otherwise — to each
other," said Mr. Burns.
The new committee mirrors
similar arrangements with Rus-
sia and South Africa.
Palestinian sources said that
the committee, which will meet
several times a year, represents a
