side ... and now happy as all heck
to be back among the folks he
knows so well.
TUSCAN METHOD of sea-
soning and grilling steaks, chops
and fish has been added to the
northern Italian menu at Chianti
on Northwestern Highway.
This manner of Italian grill
cuisine brings out intense flavors
with its marinating and season-
ing of meats and fish for cooking
on the open hearth ... It's cen-
turies old, dating back to Etr-
uscan times, making northern
Italians among the first bar-b-
cuers.
INDICATIONS HAVE prov-
en very strong that COTS (Coali-
tion on Temporary Shelter) is fast
becoming a biggie among the
charitable ranks.
Its first annual Slumber Par-
ty and Dinner Dance three years
ago brought just over 100 to Bots-
ford Inn on Grand River.
The recent third annual at
Ritz-Carlton was a complete sell-
out, over the 225 mark, with
many more wanting to get in but
not able.
The silent auction was a big
success, too, with written bids on
a lot of wanted items ... And The
Hits had folks dancing to some
choice rhythms.
A lot of guys and gals are
jumping on the bandwagon to
help COTS in its food, shelter and
child care service ... among pro-
grams that help homeless men,
women and children build new
and productive lives.
This is COTS' 15th year, and
for sure it will need more room at
taining videos and a program of next year's fourth annual dinner-
daily activity including puppet dance.
PLUS THE GOOD home-
shows, reading hours and color-
made food dished out at Ram's
ing.

chains, will also join Official All-

HERE'S MORE fun for the
kiddies ... and boy, is it ever go-
ing over with a bang.
Thought it would never come
... The idea was there, but Kroger
became the first supermarket
around to open one.
It's the new Kid's Corner play
center, open 10 a.m. through 8
p.m: at Kroger's new store on
Pontiac Trail just east of Hag-
gerty in West Bloomfield.
Parents can register young-
sters for up to an hour while
shopping ... Both they and the
children get matching wrist
bands ... A parent receives a
pager and can also check on their
brood via closed-circuit monitors
at four corners of the store.
The semi-enclosed Kid's Cor-
ner is open enough so folks can
look in, and supervised by a pro-
gram director and team of child-
care professionals trained in first
aid and CPR.
Don't worry, the kids won't
even miss you ... not with every-
thing from computers and board
games, educational and enter-

Italian flavor in
Royal Oak.
