The Ark, a nationally recognized Jewish social service agency headquarted in Chicago, seeks an
executive director. The incumbent is responsible for program management/development, staff
recruitment/supervision, and represents The Ark in the Chicago Jewish and professional commu-
nities. The executive director supervises a staff of 40+ professionals, oversees a budget in excess
of $3 million, assists with fund raising, grant-writing and staff and board development.
The Ark has served the Chicago Jewish community for over 25 years, providing a variety of ser-
vices to the poor free of charge. Services include medical, dental, pharmaceutical, transitional
housing, a kosher food pantry, legal assistance, holiday programming, mental health counseling
and direct cash assistance. Most of these services are provided with the assistance of over 400
active volunteers. All programs and services are delivered in a distinctly Jewish context.
The executive director must have strong leadership qualities, demonstrated managerial and admin-
istrative skills, and experience working closely with lay leadership. Experience in Jewish commu-
nal service and professional degree required. We offer competitive salary and benefits.
