Named for the TV show, it is
a naturalist's delight: an un-
spoiled oasis with nothing but
trees, shaded pathways, a few
picnic tables and the chance to
enjoy the get-away-from-it-all
serenity.
Another excursion took us to
the small fishing village of La
Parguera and the Phosphores-
cent Bay, so named because of
, the "fireflies of the sea," tiny
croscopic creatures which light
up at night when disturbed by
the movement of a boat.
But even though we came in
daylight, we saw amazing un-
derwater sights when we took
a glass-bottomed boat ride.
We also enjoyed a brief visit to
the city of Ponce. Known as "the
pearl of the South," it is Puerto
Rico's second-largest city, very
different from bustling San Juan.
In the historic center of town, the

We admired the city's most well-
known landmark, the flamboy-
antly red-and-black firehouse,
and also visited its impressive
art museum.
The most unusual sightseeing
highlight was our visit to a near-
by mango farm. The novelty was
that this farm was entirely Is-
raeli-managed. And it was an im-
pressive example of Israeli
ingenuity at work in the
Caribbean.
A 15-minute drive fmm our ho-
tel took us to the headquarters for
Pango Mango. It's the product of
Fruit International, the world's
largest producer of mangos.
