Marci, appropriately attired
in a bathing suit, flippers and
snorkel gear, came down the
aisle like a bride, singing a par-
ody of "Some Enchanted
Evening." This year Marci in-
vited the Amazin' Blue a cap-
pella group from the
University of Michigan to per-
form, and introduced Lauren
Victor from Bloomfield Hills
Lahser High School, Sarah
Radtke from Birmingham
Groves, and Dana Applebaum
from Eastern Michigan Uni-
versity as soloists.
Jordan Smith, a tax attor-
ney who also composes his
own music, performed songs
from Rent, and Dr. Henry She-
vitz played the piano, as he
has at most of the events.
"It's a sacred evening on
our calendar," says Dr. Shevitz
of West Bloomfield. "We have
a good time. The planning
starts in August, right after we
return from Camp Michiga-
nia. We would-
n't think about
going anywhere
else."

oped,into a fun evening of en-
tertainment among our
friends. There's some amazing
talent among some people
you see everyday who you
would never expect."
Themes from the events
range from a salute to "Satur-
day Night Live" two years
ago, an evening of parodies,
an all-Disney evening, the mu-
sic of Andrew Lloyd Webber,
and a 10th anniversary show
last year. The party 10 years
ago introduced to many the
then new musicals Phantom
of the Opera and Les Miser-
ables. "It was brand new mu-
sic then," recalls Marci, "and
everyone at my house went
nuts for it."
Each year, more planning
goes into the party, more friends
participate, the food gets more
lavish, and the costumes get
