THE DECOR
Make it simple and elegant.
Overkill is the quickest way to
have your guests whispering
about how your wedding is
"tacky" and "overdone." The
focal point in the room that
day should be the bride and
groom, not the spangly
streamers and the froufrou
tulle puffs on the walls.
Arrange with your florist
the kind of centerpieces you'd
like. Either look at a catalog of
available styles, or design your
own using a favorite, fragrant
flower. A money-saving hint:
Pass up centerpieces for the
head table where you and
your bridal party will be sit-
ting. Your bridal bouquets can
be placed in front of you for a
lovely look.
Decide what you can and
can't do yourself. Many brides
like to include a table topped
with framed pictures of past
family weddings. Perhaps you
can make your own center-
pieces or supply your own
candles.
Remember that the greatest
decor is the amount of joy in
the room.
These basics are just the be-
ginnings of your reception to-
do list. So spend some time
thinking about exactly what
you want in your reception,
cut out magazine pictures if
you have to, think in terms of
details and start planning. Al-
low plenty of time for this
task, in order to make unhur-
ried, genuine decisions. In the
end, all your hard work will
pay off in the form of a lovely

wedding reception of your
dreams.11
