Shop Sherwood... it's worth it Bowlers Seek Maccabiah Spots Five Detroit bowlers finished among the top 12 qualifiers dur- ing the recent tryouts for the World Maccabiah Games in Israel in July. A second tryout will be held this weekend in Maple Shade, N.J., and a bowloff in March will be held to determine the U.S. bowling team for the games. Twenty-eight bowlers partici- pated in the Detroit tryout. The five Detroit area bowlers who fin- ished among the top 12 are Gary Klinger, Phil Horowitz, Howard Waxer, Keith Kingston and Mort Friedman. Klinger finished in second place and averaged 206.75 for 16 games. Gymnastics Team Takes 2nd Place Oakland Gymnastics Training Center in Walled Lake took sec- ond place Jan. 25 at the Gold Medal Gymnastics Optional Cup in Findlay, Ohio. Amanda Allen, 16, of Bloom- field Hills, took first all-around with a second place in floor, fourth on beam, seventh in vault and first on bars. Jodi Rosenberg, 16, of West Bloomfield, placed fourth all- around with third places on beam and floor, eighth on bars, and first on vault. Shanyn Lancaster finished sev- enth all-around with a fourth in vault, fifth on beam, sixth on bars and ninth on floor.
