The Midrasha Center for Adult
Jewish Studies of the Agency for
Jewish Education will begin a
new semester of weekly Hebrew
and Yiddish classes and Judaica
courses the week of Feb. 10. He-
brew instructors Nira Lev, Ronit
Gutkovich, Pnina Hagiz, Ahuva
Newman and Tziona Ragowsky
will offer 11 levels of courses,
ranging from total beginner for
those students seeking basic
skills of Hebrew reading, writing,
listening comprehension and con-
versation to advanced Hebrew
language and literature for those
who demonstrate a high level of
fluency.
In addition, Midrasha will of-
fer a brand-new free monthly mif
gash (get together), with speakers
who will discuss, in Hebrew, a va-
riety of topics, Israeli newspap er
articles and poetry of interest to
the group. People who have not
taken Hebrew with Midrasha in
the past are encouraged to con-
tact Nira Lev to be placed in the
appropriate class to match abil-
ities.
Yiddish classes, scheduled for
Monday evenings, will be taught
by Dr. Judith Nysenholc from the
University of Michigan. Level 1
is designed to develop basic skills
in speaking, understanding, read-
ing and writing. Those interest-
ed should have a basic knowledge
of the Hebrew alphabet. Level 2
will develop accuracy and fluen-
cy in oral expression and reading
comprehension and will introduce
topics in Yiddish culture and lit-
erature. In addition, Rabbi
Steven Well from Young Israel of
Oak Park will begin his 10-week
course, "Insights from the
Prophets," 10 a.m.-noon on Tues-
day, Feb. 11.
All classes will be held at the
Agency for Jewish Education,
21550 W. 12 Mile Road, South-
field. Preregistration is required.
Tuition specials are extended to
educators at Jewish supplemen-
tary and day schools, senior citi-
zens over the age of 60 and college
students.

Round Table
Design Contest
The Greater Detroit Interfaith
Round Table, the Detroit Chap-
ter of the National Conference, is
looking for young adults between
the ages of 13 and 18 to create a
logo design for the 45th annual
"Rearing Children of Good Will"
print materials. The conference
is scheduled for April 9, 1997, at
U of D-Mercy.
The theme for this year's con-
ference is "It Takes You To Cre-
ate a World of Peace and Unity."
Entrants should concentrate
their logo on this theme.
The design for the logo must
be original and must not be de-
rived from existing works. The
selected logo will be reduced in
size to approximately 3 x 5 inch-
es to fit the cover of the brochure.
Therefore, the original work
should be no larger than 81/2 x
11 inches. The logo should be
black and white and fastened to
the completed entry form and
mailed or hand-delivered to:
